Today's a better day...

Yesterday started out by me just checking to see how things are weight wise on the scales and was that a mistake! I've gained 5-6 pounds in the past couple of weeks. :( But of course, when you're stressed out and eating McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese sandwiches once or twice a day....enough said. So, I've now got to get the eating under control.

Last night right before the American Idol results show and the UD/OSU game (9 p.m. EST) came on our cable went out! Not to mention the fact that our son needed to send homework in to his professor by 10 p.m. as well. He called his sister who logged in to his college account and sent the email for him so that worked out. So, for the rest of the evening -- no tv, no internet and no telephone, except for our cell phones. After spending an hour trying to get through to the cable company we finally gave up and went to bed. Right about 2 a.m. a transformer blew and knocked our power out so I trudged downstairs, found a flashlight and called the electric company. They came out about an hour later and then long about 4:30 a.m. we get a recorded message from them telling us our power was back on, which I already knew! So, needless to say getting out of bed this morning was a little difficult since I was awake for about 2 hours during the middle of the night.

So far today everything is going smoothly but I'm not home yet! I got my cleaning lady back today too so HOPEFULLY when I go home my house will be nice and clean (except for the clutter looming behind those bedroom doors). :)

Hopefully tonight I can get back to crocheting. I have some friends and family who I believe are in need of prayer shawls or afghans so I need to get busy!
The picture above is my sister Lois who is modeling the prayer shawl that I made for her and took out to her in Arizona when I was visiting on vacation in February. I forgot all about that when I was posting pictures the other day.

I'm finally posting to my new blog!

Well, I decided that I'd give this blogging thing a try. I'm doing it mostly to share my crochet creations with family, friends and those new friends I meet on the websites relating to crocheting and prayer shawls. I'm going to try to post some pictures of my creations so far so we'll see how that goes. The pictures are of a baby blanket (pink variegated yarn), scarlet and grey Ohio State afghan that I made for my daughter and new son-in-law for Christmas and a blue and white baby blanket that I made for a friend at work who is being induced today. I'm also in the process of doing 8" granny squares for Hooking for a Cause on crochetville.org as well as working on a prayer shawl for a friend whose husband has been diagnosed with cancer recently. I don't know why I haven't crocheted for the past 30 years, it took my mother's death and seeing how much I cherish the things that she made that got me back to doing it. So, we'll see.
